Methuselah’s Table – About my Novel
|It was an era like no other. Lawlessness and violence abounded everywhere, and man did whatever he saw fit to do. Not only man, but miscreant angels too cast aside their regard for the God they were to serve and served their own lusts instead. Finding the daughters of mankind beautiful, they came and took for themselves, bringing terror to many a young woman. Naphal was one such lecherous being, and when his prowl brought him to a remote valley, there he spied his next prize—three sisters—and Naphal called for their capture.
Enosh was a rare man of integrity; so, when the time came for him to leave his father’s household, he set out on a pilgrimage to find a land unspoiled by bloodshed. But when his path brought him near a remote valley, there he saw Nediva and her two sisters in great peril; and Enosh called himself to their rescue.
The battle that ensued was in a realm beyond that of Enosh’s vision. And yet while the details eluded him, his victory set in motion a generational war with Naphal, who would not let this one defeat deter his quest for women of pure origin. Now safe with her family, Nediva found in her rescuer the man she had been praying for, while her father found the man who could help answer his lifelong questions about Adam, the first. But Nediva’s sisters, with affections of their own for Enosh, wanted him as the man who would take them away to an exciting new world.
Methuselah relates this, and the other stories told to him by his forefathers—stories of courage and faith in the midst of evil. And opposing them at every turn, Naphal and his cohorts scheme to take the virtuous women they love. But these stories given to Methuselah must soon come to an end, for in seven days the great judgment prophesized by his father will rain terror on earth. Seven days for his grandson Noah to prepare the Ark, and seven days for Methuselah to prepare the hearts of those who will enter the Ark, and seven days of concern for their beloved Grandfather, Methuselah, who has yet to be invited by the Lord to enter the Ark.
